Frequently Asked Questions

What is “Chale, Protect Yourself”?

Chale, Protect Yourself” is a youth-led safe sex and sexual health platform created to educate, support, and uplift young people in Ghana (and across Africa). We talk openly and honestly about sex, intimacy, relationships, and everything in between – without judgement, shame, or
awkward vibes.

Let’s just say… it’s a secret for now. I move like Anas – undercover, intentional, and
purpose-driven. But don’t worry, one day soon, I’ll remove my beaded hat and reveal myself!
Until then, let the message lead the mission.

Yes! “Chale, Protect Yourself” is a grassroots non-profit based in both the UK and Ghana.
We’re focused on community care, sexual health education, and creating a safe space for
African youth – online and eventually offline.

We love individuals and organisations that want to contribute to our mission. Whether you’re a creative, health worker, educator, or just passionate about youth empowerment – we see you.
Scroll to the bottom of the website and click “Collaborate With Us” then “Partner With Us”. Fill out the form and someone on the team will get back to you as soon as possible.

Yes, we’re working hard to build a growing list of free clinics, youth-friendly health centres, and safe spaces where you can ask questions, get tested, and receive care.
Check out our “Resources” page for sexual health clinics and emergency services in Ghana.

You can visit clinics like Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) or Marie Stopes Ghana. Some government hospitals also offer free STI testing and contraceptive advice.
We’re constantly updating our Resources page with verified locations.

While we’re not doctors, we work with health professionals, fact-checkers, and sexual health educators to ensure what we share is accurate, inclusive, and safe.
If you’re ever in doubt – always speak to a licensed health professional.

Yes ooo! You can send us a message through our “Ask Adowa” column – a no-judgement zone where you can ask anything, share anything, and learn from others like you.
To submit your story or question, go to the “Get Involved” tab at the top of the website –  then click on “Ask Adowa”. Simple!

Absolutely. We have articles and guides just for parents – because we know it’s not always easy to start that convo.
Start with “How to Talk to Your Children About Sex Without Stressing Out” and go from there.

Nope. While we focus on youth voices, everyone aged 18+ is welcome. Whether you’re married, dating, celibate, exploring, or just curious – this space is for you too.

Empowerment isn’t handed to us. We build it. Every honest conversation, every brave question, every choice to protect yourself is a step toward freedom.
